Edwin Pitre & Son Caribe There are very few professional caribbean bands working in Brazil. The first one in that style, the Son Caribe, was created in 1982 in Rio de Janeiro by the Panamá-born musician Edwin Pitre and brought to São Paulo in 1990. The band performs a repertory of standards and own compositions, showing the rich universe of Central América and Caribbean Islands dancing rhythms. The formation of the band counts on: Edwin Pitre (voice and bass); André Juarez (vibes, percussion and backing vocals); Giba Estebez (piano); Ronaldo Isaac (congas, pandeiro and backing vocals); Jimmy de La Torre (timbales); Júnior Galante (trumpet); and Maurício de Souza (sax and flute). |
